Maggie's First Steps!!

Maggie took her first steps on Saturday, January 26th, and I happened to catch it on video! She was doing something very cute so I ran for the camera and when I turned it on she just started walking toward me. I was so excited! She walks a little more each day, but I've also noticed that she doesn't try walking when she's wearing pants. So I'm dressing her in onesies so I can watch her walk! She's very proud of herself and it's so adorable to watch her timid steps and watch her face get so excited and determined. Yeah Maggie!!

To see the video go to the YouTube video on the bottom right of my blog. After watching "Playful Maggie Lynn" look for "Maggie Lynn's First Steps" and she's in a lime green onesie and you can see her very first steps for yourself! Yeah!

Tagged! Our Story

I decided to consider myself Tagged because I enjoyed reading everyone else's so much. Enjoy.

1. How long have you been together? Chris and I started dating at the end of our junior year of high school. Chris had a big week campaigning for class president and had a party at the end of the week. We watched "The Princess Bride" and I managed to sit next to him during the movie and by the end of the movie we were holding hands! If you ask Chris it was a pretty funny experience trying to hold my hand because I was clueless. Can you imagine being so inexperienced that you didn't even know how to hold hands? Yeah, that was me. Chris was my first boyfriend ever but I always knew that he was the one I wanted to marry and that our relationship would last forever!

2. How long did you date? Well, we started dating in May 1999 and we dated until Chris left on his mission in August 2001. I waited faithfully for him and we wrote almost weekly throughout his mission. I went with Chris' family to pick Chris up from the airport returning from Guatemala and that very weekend we had picked up right where we left off! We got engaged about 6 weeks after he returned and married in December 2003. If you count his mission I guess that means we dated for 4 1/2 years.

3. How old is he? Chris is 25 and I am 26! I'm 9 months older than he is.

4. Who eats more? Well, Chris eats more than me, but I definitely eat more chocolate than he does. I have a daily chocolate quota I have to fill!

5. Who said I love you first? I don't remember when either of us actually said the words "I Love You" but Chris was the first one to close a letter with "Love". I would never have dared to make the first move! But I definitely didn't wait to let him know I loved him, too!

6. Who is taller? Chris is 7 inches taller than me. Tall, dark, and handsome!

7. Who can sing better? I can, however Chris' voice has improved so much over the years! He has an excellent voice quality he just struggles with pitch sometimes.

8. Who is smarter? You know, if you looked at our transcripts you would guess that I was smarter because I know how to get the grades. However, when it comes to the real world Chris is a genius and I'm quite naive. Chris has good common sense, an excellent memory, and he knows about a lot more things than I do. I top him in just a few subjects.

9. Who does the laundry? I do it most of the time. I don't mind doing laundry especially when Maggie helps me! She's good at unfolding the clothes and throwing everything out of the basket! We have a lot of fun.

10. Who pays the bills? We've taken turns a few times throughout the years. Now, Chris has taken over the job and I check up on things now and then.

11. Who sleeps on the right side? We've actually switched sides a number of times. It often depends on what side a wall or window is on. Right now, I do.

12. Who mows the lawn? The HOA grounds crew. However, I imagine we will share the job when we have a lawn of our own. Chris and I have both done our share of lawn mowing in the past. I worked on grounds crew for a summer at college and am excited to make my own lawn beautiful someday. I think I may have more time to do it in the future also, so we'll see.

13. Who cooks dinner? I do during the week, and sometimes Chris helps out during the weekend. I used to never cook because I am not that proficient at it and have a very small number of recipes I'm comfortable with! Chris is helping me to expand my horizons because he is a very inventive and talented cook. Oddly enough, I have had strange desires to bake recently and I am hoping that I continue to have desires to cook so that I will get better at it and enjoy it!

14. Who drives? I drove most of the time when we first got married because Chris wasn't that proficient driving a stick. However, he got better and we shared equally until Maggie was born and I went three months without a vehicle and Chris drove so much that he got very comfortable with our big new Dodge Intrepid. I have still never gotten as comfortable with it. Chris drives almost all the time that we travel together now.

15. Who is more stubborn? Probably me, although I don't consider myself very stubborn. Chris is incredibly open to new ideas and is rarely stubborn.

16. Who kissed who first? Chris kissed me first. We had gone on a walk to the park and had a sprinkler water fight one day before Chris was leaving town. Well, I ended up under the sprinkler but before I could get up he kissed me! Wahoooo!

17. Who asked who out first? Chris asked me out first and picked me up in their old orange Maverick, known as "The Mav", which was pretty much the coolest car ever! We went bowling and then to a friends house to watch movies.

18. Who proposed? Chris definitely popped the question, however it took a little pushing on my part. When he got home from his mission I was done waiting and I was ready to get married! I think he preferred to get more comfortable being home again first, and he didn't seem to be in any hurry to get engaged. We were on Temple Square around his birthday in August and I brought up marriage and pretty much asked him what he was waiting for! We got engaged a couple weeks later.

19. Who has more friends? Probably Chris. He's such a people person and everyone loves him! We have a lot of the same friends from growing up and most of our friends now are mutual. Chris has an amazing talent of making friends with almost everyone he meets.

20. Who is more sensitive? I take this one with flying colors if you're talking about hormones and mood changes. I might be more sensitive in the sympathetic listener category as well, although Chris isn't far behind.

21. Who has more siblings? Me! I have nine brothers and sisters and Chris has three.

22. Who wears the pants? I think we both have a leg in this one. We discuss all of our decisions together and usually have the same ideas so decisions come pretty naturally.

If anyone wants to be tagged then consider it done. It's fun to write and it's fun to read them!

A Day in the Life of the Mowers

Chris likes to rise bright and early and head off to the gym for a morning workout. He goes to the most amazing gym which apparently has an incredible spa and menthol room; I still haven't been there but it sounds very cool. He then heads to work where he does Q.A. for computer software. His brother works with him in the same office.

Meanwhile.... at home Maggie likes to wake up anywhere between 7:00 and 8:30 a.m. and I, of course, sleep until then. Maggie is always very happy in the morning.

Like her Daddy, she too likes to get her exercise in the morning.

Maggie loves to throw all of her clothes out of her drawers so it is easy to find something for her to wear each morning!

She then gets very excited when it's time to eat.

Once or twice a week Maggie takes a bath and boy does she love it! She splashes water all over me and the bathroom in the process and it is a lot of fun. She really loves her rubber duckies.

Maggie and I then get to just play and laugh and play some more!

Maggie takes a 2-3 hour nap in the middle of the day which is when I finally have a chance to jump in the shower, take a nap, read, and do some projects around the home. Maggie loves it when I vacuum and she's certainly not afraid of the vacuum! Instead of running from it she usually runs toward it and I have to work my way around her! She's very funny.

Maggie gets very excited to eat again

and then she'll practice the piano

and....WHAT? MMMYYYY daughter doesn't want to practice??? :D

Okay, so we play with her Little People farm, read books, run around the house, jump on the bed, and finally.....Daddy comes home! Give him a big kiss Maggie!

After hanging out with Daddy for a little while and eating dinner, Chris goes to work on his own business, currently Savvy Editing, which is quickly becoming more of a PR Communications business than strictly writing and editing. His business recently signed a contract with Idaho National Laboratories and he is busy working on their first project. It's very exciting!

Goodnight Maggie!

Maggie's News

Maggie is now learning to brush her teeth. It's a good thing that baby toothpaste is edible because she loves it! She also stands up all the time and we are just waiting for her to suddenly take off on her feet. She is a fast crawler, she loves to imitate animal sounds and she is now learning to play hide-and-seek. Her favorite place to hide is behind doors. Maggie also loves to play chase, to laugh and squeal, and to put her clothes over her head and parade around the house.
